Everyone has someone in their life who is impossible to shop for gifts for, be it a friend, aunt, cousin, coworker – really anyone. It could be that they have everything you can possibly imagine. Or maybe they are that person who is always exchanging gifts. Whatever the case may be, The Picket Fence has you covered.
For the friend who ‘has it all’, we have something they might not – beautiful blankets and throws. Blankets are great for cuddling up in front of a favorite movie, adding extra warmth to a bed, and being overall handy. Blankets come in standard bed sizes, so they’re an easy gift. Throws are similar, but smaller. Throws can be used to add texture and color to a sofa, chair, or bed. While they are also quite snuggly, they can also be quite beautiful. Here are just a few options we have at the store.
On the left is the Astrid Blanket from the fabulous collection Peter Som has designed for Sferra. On the right is Sferra’s classic St. Moritz combed cotton blanket. It comes in a wide variety of colors that are suitable for any room and decor.
Peacock Alley is also know for providing some wonderful blankets that will warm anyone’s day.
The Meridian Blanket is a super soft knit blanket that comes in three great colors that can blend in with all types of styles. For a clean look, check out the All Season’s Blanket. It is combed Egyptian cotton that has been finished with a textured edge.
When it comes to our throws, we beat the competition in style, beauty, quality, and selection. I’ll start with our amazing Bodmer Throws. These throws are hand woven by a husband and wife team out of Oregon. Every throw is made with high quality, wonderfully soft baby alpaca. They are so popular in the store as gifts for men because their colors are neutral, yet bold, and these throws don’t have the very decorative finishes that others might. Take a look for yourself.
On the left is the very handsome Tattersall Grey Throw. The throw on the right is the Beige Multistripe Throw that looks stunning in almost every room, in almost every setting. You cannot forget cashmere this time of year. Rani Arabella is one of the best makers of any home decor that is cashmere. All of their blankets, throws and pillows are woven in northern Italy, ensuring that they will last a life time.
In Sun Valley, we have other activities besides skiing and snowboarding. We also have a large population of equestrian riders. The Horse Throw is all cashmere with a soft suede border, and perfect for the person who has the passion of all things horses. For the person who likes a cleaner, more modern look, there is the Pisa Throw. It’s available in the Ivory and Gold, and is absolutely stunning!
One of my favorite gifts to receive are slippers. Even if I have more than one pair, I always have room for more! We are fortunate enough to carry Patricia Green’s sumptuous slippers, and they are so gorgeous, it’s hard to pick which ones to get.

For the girl who loves green (that would be my best friend), we have the spunky Camille slipper in Kiwi that is finished with a bow. I know there are some frilly, girly-girls out there who would love a pair of our Lola slippers! Check out that marabou poof! Finally, for the most elegant lady in your life, we have the beguiling Whistler Mink slippers that have been constructed from recycled mink, and transformed into beautiful footwear. Not only are all these slippers stylish and comfortable, but they’re made with rubber soles so your friend can make quick trips outdoors while making the neighbors jealous!
